West highland marine are an established boat charter company offering wildlife boat trips, scientific, private charter. Join Local Scallop Diver and fisherman Jamie Elder on one of his amazing cruises, there are three to choose from. All running from Inverewe Garden, Loch Ewe. Viewing wildlife from underwater as well as on top and above.

My name is Jamie Elder, the owner/skipper of a charter boat named “Striker” I am a Scallop diver and spent my time diving around the West coast of Scotland for many years. West Highland Marine is an established company, my father and I have a combined experience of 50 years in these waters, recreationally and working commercially. I enjoy passing on my knowledge and enthusiasm and like to answer any questions you may have about marine life. On the boat trips I can share my underwater experiences with visitors by lifting fishing creels to look at creatures from below the waves - velvet, green, edible brown crabs, lobsters, octopus, sea stars and a variety of fish as well. We also regularly see Northern European Otters, Seals, Golden Eagles, White Tailed Sea Eagles and many sea birds.

1 HOUR BOAT TRIP

On this cruise along the Inverewe peninsula. We will be looking at wildlife , such as Seals and there pups , there are also a great variety Sea birds in Loch Ewe. We also have many Otters sites, there are Sea Eagles resident also in Loch Ewe.

We will be lifting a fishing creel or two to show you a vast array of Shellfish in this part of the world. We then cruise over to Boor Island and the Skerries to the North.

We will now be on the West side of Loch Ewe. And look for more wildlife encounters. Then a short cruise around Poolewe bay and over to view the Inverewe garden from the Sea. Then the short steam back to the jetty.

2 HOUR BOAT TRIP

On this more adventurous tour and moving out onto the deep

waters of Loch Ewe.

With amazing panoramic views of Loch Ewe. And lift fishing creels in deeper water to show different Shellfish to visitors.

We will go to Loch Tournaig, where there is a large colony of harbour and grey seals and pups.

Where we will hopefully see the very large Residents of Loch Ewe, the Sea Eagles, a pair of Male and Female and there chicks.

And in good weather we will cruise over to the island if possible. For yet more wildlife encounters and amazing scenery!!!
